Extract pages

Pull selected pages out into a new PDF.

Extract pages from PDF documents when you need a small part of a big file: the signature page of a contract, one chapter of an ebook, or the two pages of a report your manager asked for. You type the pages you want to keep, and Xon File gives you a new PDF with only those pages. It's free and you don't need an account.

What extracting does

Your original document stays as it is on your device. The tool makes a new, shorter PDF that holds only the pages you listed, so you can save certain pages of a PDF without editing or damaging the full version.

There is one box to fill in, "Pages to keep". You can type single pages, ranges, or a mix, separated by commas. Typing 1-3, 8 gives you a four-page PDF made of pages 1, 2, 3 and 8. Typing 15 on its own gives you a one-page PDF of page 15.

Use the page numbers your PDF reader shows, where the first page of the file is page 1. These can be different from the numbers printed at the bottom of the pages, especially in books and reports that open with a cover and a contents section.

How to extract pages from a PDF

  1. Find the pages you want. Open the PDF in any reader and write down their numbers.
  2. Upload the PDF. On a computer, drag it into the box; on a phone, tap "Select files". One PDF per upload, up to 100 MB.
  3. Type the pages in "Pages to keep", for example 1-3, 8.
  4. Start the tool.
  5. Download your new PDF. Because you get a single file back, it downloads directly with no ZIP.

Good reasons to pull pages out

Sending one part of a long document

A lawyer may only need the page you signed. A teacher may want just the results page from a lab report. Sending three pages from a 90-page file is easier for everyone, and the other person doesn't have to scroll to find what matters.

Studying from a big PDF

Students often get whole textbooks or lecture packs as one PDF. Pull out the chapter for this week's reading or the past-paper pages you're practising and keep them in a separate file on your phone. A short file is easier to flick through on a small screen, and you won't lose your place in a 400-page document.

Proof and paperwork for applications

Visa, job and school applications often ask for specific pages: the photo page of a document, the last three months of a statement, the page that shows a qualification. Extract those pages, then combine them with your other papers using Merge PDF to upload one file.

Keeping a short copy for reference

Some people keep a one-page extract of a long manual or policy, such as the page with the contact numbers or the warranty terms, so it's easy to find later. Small offices do something similar with long contracts, saving the page with the payment terms in a shared folder so colleagues can check it without searching the whole agreement.

Extract pages or remove pages?

Both tools make a smaller PDF from one file. Extract pages is the better fit when you're keeping a few pages out of many. If you're keeping most of the document and dropping only a few pages, typing the ones to drop in Remove pages is less work.

And if you want each section of the document as its own separate file, Split PDF can make several PDFs from one upload, which come back together in a ZIP.

Before you start

Privacy

Your PDF is processed on our server and deleted as soon as the extracted file is sent back to you. Nothing is stored or shared. The pages in the new file look exactly as they did in the original, with no watermark or branding added.

Frequently asked questions

Is Extract pages free?

Yes. It's free to use, with no sign-up or account. The PDF you download has no watermark on it.

Can I extract pages on my phone?

Yes. The tool runs in the browser on Android phones and iPhones as well as computers, so nothing needs installing. Tap "Select files", type the pages to keep, and the new PDF downloads to your phone.

Does extracting pages change my original PDF?

No. The original file on your phone or computer isn't touched. You get a separate new PDF that contains only the pages you chose.

Can I extract just one page?

Yes. Type that single page number, such as 5, and you get a one-page PDF. This is a simple way to save a single page as its own document.

How do I extract pages that aren't next to each other?

List them with commas between them. Typing 2, 7, 11-13 keeps page 2, page 7 and pages 11 to 13 in one new PDF.

Can I get each page as a separate file instead?

Yes, but use Split PDF for that. Its "Every page into its own PDF" option gives you one file per page, bundled in a ZIP.
