Use this video to MP3 converter when the sound is the only part of a video you need, such as a recorded lecture or a song from a clip you filmed yourself. It takes the audio track out of the video and saves it as an MP3 file that plays on almost any phone or computer. It's free and you don't need an account.
How to convert video to MP3
- Tap "Select files" on your phone, or drag your videos onto the page on a computer.
- Choose the audio quality: Standard 192 kbps, High 320 kbps or Small 128 kbps.
- Start the conversion.
- Download your MP3. A single file downloads directly, and several files come back together in one ZIP.
You can add up to 30 files at once, as long as the upload stays within 100 MB.
Which audio quality to choose
The kbps number is the bitrate, meaning how much data is used for each second of sound. More data keeps more detail but makes a bigger file.
| Setting | Bitrate | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 192 kbps | Most music and general listening |
| High | 320 kbps | Music you care about, good headphones |
| Small | 128 kbps | Speech, lectures, podcasts, saving space |
For a talk or a class recording, Small is usually plenty, because speech doesn't need the extra detail. For music, Standard sounds good to most people, and High is there if you want the most detail MP3 can hold. A higher setting can't add quality that wasn't in the video's original sound, so a phone recording in a noisy room won't sound cleaner at 320 kbps.
Files you can upload
The converter accepts the common video formats: MP4, MOV, MKV, WEBM, AVI and 3GP. That covers videos from most phones, screen recorders and cameras, as well as older 3GP clips.
It also accepts audio files. If you have an M4A, WAV, OGG, FLAC or AAC file and need it as an MP3, upload it the same way and pick a quality. This is handy for WAV recordings, which are large, or for M4A voice memos that a website or app won't accept.
Ways people use it
Students record lectures on their phones as video because the camera app is quick to open. Turning those recordings into MP3 makes them far smaller, and you can listen on the bus without the screen on. Teachers do the same in reverse, pulling the audio from a lesson video to share as a listening exercise.
At work, someone might need just the audio from a recorded meeting or a webinar to send to a person who will type up the minutes. Musicians and singers who film their rehearsals often want the sound alone to listen back to. Clubs and community groups that film their events can share the audio with members whose phones are short on storage or data.
Another common case is WhatsApp. Video messages and forwarded clips take up a lot of space, and an MP3 of the same clip is much lighter if the sound is what matters.
Tips and limits
The output is always MP3, whatever you upload. If you need WAV, M4A or OGG instead, use the Audio converter, which converts to those formats.
The tool converts the whole audio track. To keep only one part, such as a single song from a long recording, convert it to MP3 first and then cut the part you want with Trim video or audio. The MP3 is a much smaller file to upload than the original video.
A video with no sound track has nothing to extract, so it won't give you a useful MP3. For very large videos, remember the 100 MB upload limit.
If the video is on YouTube and it's yours, or you have permission to download it, the YouTube downloader has an MP3 option that saves the audio directly.
Privacy
Your files are processed on our server and deleted as soon as the MP3 is sent back to you. We don't keep them, and we don't share them. There's no sign-up, and nothing is added to your audio. The converter runs in the browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook, so you don't install anything.
Frequently asked questions
Is the video to MP3 converter free?
Yes. You can convert video to MP3 without paying and without creating an account. Upload, choose a quality and download.
How do I convert MP4 to MP3 on my phone?
Open this page in your phone's browser, tap "Select files" and pick the video from your gallery or files. Choose a quality, convert, and the MP3 saves to your phone's downloads.
Which quality should I pick for a lecture recording?
Small (128 kbps) is enough for speech and keeps the file small. Use Standard or High when the recording is music.
Can I extract audio from several videos at once?
Yes. You can upload up to 30 files in one go, within the 100 MB upload limit. The MP3 files come back together in a single ZIP.
Will 320 kbps make my audio sound better?
Only if the original sound had that much detail. The converter can keep the quality of the source, but it can't improve a recording that was noisy or already heavily compressed.
Can I convert WAV or M4A to MP3 here?
Yes. Along with video, the tool accepts M4A, WAV, OGG, FLAC and AAC files and turns them into MP3 at the quality you choose.
Do you add a watermark or keep my files?
No to both. Nothing is added to your MP3, and your files are deleted from our server as soon as the result is sent back.
