HEIC to JPG

Save iPhone HEIC photos as JPG so they open anywhere.

HEIC to JPG is the conversion people look for after an iPhone photo gets rejected by an upload form, or arrives on a computer as a file that won't open. iPhones often save pictures as HEIC (or HEIF) files. This tool turns them into ordinary JPG photos, up to 30 at a time, with no settings to worry about.

What HEIC files are

HEIC and HEIF are image formats Apple devices use for photos. On the iPhone itself they behave like any other picture: you can view, edit and share them in the Photos app. The trouble starts when the photo leaves the phone. Some websites, application portals, older programs and other devices don't accept HEIC, so the file is refused or shows up as something you can't preview.

JPG is the format nearly every site, app and printer expects. Converting gives you a copy you can upload or email without guessing whether the other side can read it.

How to convert HEIC to JPG

  1. Select your HEIC or HEIF photos. On a computer, drag them onto the page. On an iPhone or Android phone, tap "Select files".
  2. Start the conversion. There are no options to set.
  3. Download your JPGs. A single photo downloads as a JPG; several photos come back together in one ZIP.

You can add up to 30 photos per batch, and each upload can be up to 100 MB.

Getting HEIC files onto a computer

If you've copied photos from an iPhone to a Windows PC or a Chromebook by cable, cloud storage or email, you may end up with a folder of .heic files. Drag the whole selection onto this page, convert, and unzip the result. You'll have a folder of JPGs you can open anywhere.

Converting straight from the iPhone

You don't need a computer at all. On the iPhone, open this page in the browser, tap "Select files" and pick the photos from your library. The JPGs save to your downloads, and from there you can attach them to an email or upload them to the form that turned down the HEIC version. If you are converting a lot of photos, doing them in batches of 30 keeps things manageable.

Common reasons to convert iPhone photos to JPG

Job and university applications are a big one. Many portals ask you to upload a passport photo, a certificate or an ID card as JPG or PDF, and a HEIC file straight from your phone can get rejected. Convert it first, then upload.

Office work is another. A colleague sends you HEIC photos from a site visit or an event, and you need them in a report, a PowerPoint deck or a Word document. Converting them to JPG gets them into the document without a fuss.

Families and schools run into it when sharing photos between iPhone and Android users, or when sending pictures to a print shop. Small business owners who photograph products on an iPhone convert them before posting to an online shop that only lists JPG and PNG as accepted formats.

After converting

Once your photos are JPGs, other image tools here can take them further. If a form wants a smaller picture, use Resize image. If the file is still too big for an email or WhatsApp limit, Compress image will shrink it. To put several photos, such as pages of a document you photographed, into one file, use JPG to PDF.

Yes. Open this page in Safari or another browser, tap "Select files" and choose the photos. When the conversion finishes, the JPG or ZIP saves to your downloads.

What's the difference between HEIC and HEIF?

They are closely related image formats used by Apple devices. This tool accepts both .heic and .heif files and turns them into JPG.
